8ft Nurse Shark Caught By 18-Year-Old Vacationer
on Jul 07, 2021
Ryan Swanson reeled in a massive 8ft nurse shark to start off the holiday weekend and his family filmed it, commentated, and asked him about the shark in the video.
“We right at the finish line bruh!” Ryan says in the video he posted on his YouTube channel Above Average Fishing after already fighting the shark for over two hours straight. “It’s getting close right now.”
The video starts off being filmed by Ryan’s mom at 12:30am and it shows him and his father sitting on the sand beside the ocean in the dark. Ryan’s holding onto the rod with arms that look like they’ve been going through an intense workout and appearing a bit worn out, but not ready to give up.
“If you have that kind of patience and endurance and you’re going to sit there and wait until it’s finished, that tells me something about your integrity and character … you’ll persevere, you’ll push through,” Ryan’s mom said about him, Daily News reported. “I was very proud of him.”
According to the 18-year-old Georgia native, it’s the biggest fish he’s ever caught. What’s wild about this catch is he used a drone to take a piece of fillet pompano that he caught earlier that day and fly it a thousand feet from the shore before dropping it into the ocean.
The video shows Ryan reeling it in after three hours of tiring the shark out. He quickly takes a picture with the sea creature and then carefully positions it so that it can catch a wave and get back to where it belongs.
A good wave fortunately came and the shark knew exactly what to do, it started flipping its tail and within seconds, it was back in the ocean. The family celebrated and everyone rejoiced.
