For only the second time in his career, Cody Johnson is celebrating a song hitting #1!

In November 2023, Johnson debuted a new song titled “The Painter” at the CMA Awards. 2023 was a great year for Johnson, who won a Grammy for Best Country Song, and performing at the CMA Awards was just a cherry on top of a great year.

His performance was paired with stunning visuals that played behind him that became a gorgeous mural of his wife, Brandi. “The Painter” is an ode to her and its heartfelt lyrics make sure everyone knows that.

“My favorite lyric in ‘The Painter’ is ‘for every wall I built, she saw a canvas.’ If there’s anything that describes my marriage with my wife, Brandi, it’s that line. And that’s why we’ve been together for 15 years,” Cody said. “I hope my fans are encouraged to take the time to appreciate the people they have around them. The ones who make their life beautiful and bring all the beautiful colors to their world when it could just be black and white and dark. Remember them and tell them you love them.”

In January 2024, Johnson released a stunning video to accompany the song.

The video shows Brandi and Cody’s relationship from the very first time they met. They cast the perfect actors to play them, and the resemblance is uncanny!

On March 4, Johnson celebrated “The Painter” going #1 on Country Radio!

Johnson celebrated with a Facebook post writing, “Thank you country radio, The Painter is #1!”

His only other #1 is 2021’s “‘Til You Can’t,” which hit #1 on both the Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts. “The Painter” currently sits at number seven on the Hot Country Songs chart and still has time to climb to the top!

“The Painter” is already Certified Gold by the RIAA. For reference, his song “Human” is Certified Platinum and reached number eight and number 15 on the Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts, respectively.

Congrats on hitting #1, CoJo!
