The 13th season of The Masked Singer came to an end Wednesday night (May 7) and a country star took home the coveted trophy!

For the second time in Masked Singer history, a country singer has taken home the title! Following in the footsteps of Season 4 champion LeAnn Rimes, the Season 13 winner has had a storied career in country music.

Four celebrities, who had survived numerous weeks of brutal competition, were still concealed behind masks going into Wednesday night’s finale episode.

For those unfamiliar with the show’s premise, The Masked Singer features celebrities from every spectrum of the entertainment industry. The stars hide behind elaborate costumes and masks as they sing for a panel of judges who attempt to figure out their identity with the help of clues.

The judges vote alongside the audience for their favorite performance of each episode. The least popular celebrity is unmasked, and their identity is revealed. The star who survives all of the eliminations and is the last to be unmasked is crowned the winner.

Who made it to the Season 13 finale?

Those who made it to the finale were Coral, Mad Scientist Monster, Pearl, and Boogie Woogie. As clues were revealed throughout the season, country fans grew more and more certain that two of the finalists were country stars. It was suspected that Pearl was none other than “Redneck Woman” singer Gretchen Wilson, and Mad Scientist Monster was Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley. Were fans correct?

During the finale, each masked star had the opportunity to sing again in hopes of winning over the judges and the audience.

Coral was the first to take the stage and performed “Moon River” by Audrey Hepburn from the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Ashley Tisdale, Selena Gomez, Dove Cameron, and Anna Kendrick are just a few of the stars the judges have guessed Coral to be.

Pearl then took her turn on the stage where she performed “Black Horse and a Cherry Tree” by KT Tunstall. Throughout the season, judges have wondered if Pearl was Shania Twain, Madonna, Faith Hill, Natalie Maines, and Trisha Yearwood.

Boogie Woogie was up next and chose to sing “Freedom” by George Michael. His identity truly has the judges stumped and they admit that they have changed their minds numerous times throughout the season. Ultimately, most of them agree that Boogie Woogie is Andy Grammer.

Mad Scientist Monster is the last of the finalists to perform and stays true to his country roots with an emotional performance of Sugarland’s “Stay.” Kane Brown, Brian Kelley, Sam Hunt, and Trace Adkins were the judges’ final guesses.

After the first round of the finale, Mad Scientist Monster received the fewest votes and had to remove his mask.

The Mad Scientist Monster was revealed to be … former Florida Georgia Line frontman Brian Kelley!

After a commercial break, the third place winner was announced, and that celebrity was the next to be revealed.

Coming in third place was Coral who was revealed to be Zombies actress Meg Donnelly!

Pearl and Boogie Woogie performed one last time before the final results were announced. Boogie Woogie sang first and chose “Love The Hell Out Of You” by Lewis Capaldi for his last song.

Pearl delivered a heartfelt rendition of “I’ll Stand By You” by The Pretenders and earned a standing ovation.

Who won The Masked Singer Season 13?

The winner of The Masked Singer was …. PEARL! But before fans could find out who the champion was behind the Pearl mask, Boogie Woogie had to be unmasked.

The talented voice behind Boogie Woogie was multi-platinum singer-songwriter Andy Grammer.

And the Season 13 champion hiding behind Pearl was …. GRETCHEN WILSON!

“The Masked Singer is an amazing show and I’ve had a rough couple of years…I was injured. I was in a wheelchair. There was a moment I didn’t think I would get back to this place,” Wilson said after being unmasked. “This opportunity has proven to me there’s nothing that I can’t do.”

“This is something definitely for the books. I don’t know that I ever would have imagined doing something like this if I didn’t have [my daughter’s] support. I am overwhelmed.”

In a post to social media after she was crowned, Gretchen posted a photo of her trophy and costume gloves with the caption, “What an amazing night.”

What does the winner of The Masked Singer get?

The talented celebrity crowned winner of The Masked Singer earns a trophy and some serious bragging rights. There is no cash prize or even a charity donation.

The judge who guesses the most masked stars correctly wins a Golden Ear trophy.

According to Newsweek, while there is no prize money, the contestants are paid to participate and earn “a signing fee and are paid per week they appear.”
