A devastating car crash on Sunday (Feb 26th) involving a replica of the most iconic vehicles in pop culture history has shocked fans.

“I just hope that everyone is okay and I hope they can fix the General Lee fixed back like it should be,” one fan wrote on Facebook

“Sad sight to see, but it wasn’t one of the tv or movie cars which would make it worse, but still sad to see even a replica/tribute model get this kind of damage. The tv and movie cars didn’t have the R/T badging still on them,” another wrote.

“That’s sad, if or if not used on the show,” a third said.

“Ohhh. That was a horrendous crash,” a fourth wrote.

According to officials in Missouri, the historic “General Lee” Dodge Charger inspired by the classic TV series The Dukes of Hazzard was involved in a single-vehicle incident that left two people injured and hospitalized.

The Western Taney County Fire Protection District posted a Facebook statement saying they responded to the scene on highway 165 around 1:30pm and discovered the bright orange 1969 model, with its Confederate flag decal on the roof, had sustained significant damage to the front end.

The car was completely totaled and the car’s two occupants were rushed to the hospital, and their current conditions remain unknown.

According to a statement from Hollister Police Chief Preston Schmidt to the Springfield News-Leader, the investigation conducted on-site concluded that the vehicle was traveling at a speed that exceeded safe limits and was unable to cope with the conditions of the road which led to the crash.

“The driver of the vehicle was traveling too fast for the road conditions and lost control of the vehicle he was operating,” Schmidt said.

The Western Taney County Fire Protection District later updated their Facebook with new information saying, “We were contacted by the vehicle owner and found out that the vehicle has been driven by all the Dukes of Hazzard cast members, has been signed by all the cast members, but was never in the actual show. The person driving the car at the time of the accident was not authorized to do so. The owner and the owners special needs son are devastated about the damage to the vehicle.”

The vintage vehicle’s extensive damage can be observed in the images shared by the fire department. The hood appears to be nearly ripped off, with the grille detached, and parts of the front bumper hanging from the car. The side panel is deeply caved in, revealing most of the driver’s side tire and part of the underbelly.

For fans of the show, the news of the crash hit hard and has brought back memories of the beloved characters Bo and Luke Duke, who drove the iconic Charger in the fictional Hazzard County, Georgia.

For many, the Charger has become a symbol of hope and resilience, representing the spirit of adventure and the courage to stand up for what is right.

Hopefully, the owners of the car will be able to get the vehicle restored to its proper form and the people who apparently stole the car and drove it without permission will be brought to justice.
