Beulah Jackson is one of the most captivating characters on the Yellowstone spin-off Dutton Ranch. Fans were wary of Beulah from the start and unsure whether she would be an ally or an adversary to Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.

Viewers learned more about Beulah as the season progressed, and some of her dark secrets and dirty deeds were revealed. But is she a truly “evil” character?

It seems safe to say that no one knows Beulah better than the actress who plays her, Annette Bening. The multi-Oscar-nominated actress recently shared her thoughts about Beulah’s moral character during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Correspondent Denny Directo asked Bening about being in her “villain era” as she plays Beulah and another “bad” character, Priscilla, in the new Apple TV series Lucky.

Bening was quick to say that she doesn’t think Beulah is as much of a villain:

“Don’t you love Beulah? Don’t you think she has a good heart underneath all of that? Underneath all the bling?” she said.

She continued to say:

“I think Priscilla…I don’t think she has a lot of moral center. Like, I think Beulah does feel bad about certain things that she has to do.”

Do you agree with Bening’s assessment of Beulah’s character? Do you think she’s evil, or secretly good at heart?

What Do We Know About Season 2 Of Dutton Ranch?

Dutton Ranch was renewed for a second season, but details are scarce. A premiere date has not been announced, although series lead Kelly Reilly told The Hollywood Reporter that filming is scheduled to start in early 2027.

The full cast hasn’t officially been revealed beyond Cole Hauser (Rip) and Reilly (Beth). It seems likely that Annette Bening (Beulah), Finn Little (Carter), Natalie Alyn Lind (Oreana), and Juan Pablo Raba (Joaquin) will all return.

Ed Harris, who plays veterinarian Everett McKinney, basically confirmed he’ll be back for Season 2 as well. This news came amid his confession that he felt “misled” about the importance of his character in Season 1. He was particularly displeased when one of his scenes was cut, and considered voiding his contract.

However, that contract is for two seasons, which suggests he’ll return for Season 2. Plus, Hauser and Reilly (who also serve as executive producers on the series) have both voiced their desire for Harris to play a larger role in the plot moving forward.
