Country singer Jeff Bates is wone of the few people that has the approval of country music legend Conway Twitty’s family when covering his music. He’s also one of the few people to sing a Conway and Loretta duet with Loretta Lynn herself!

The First Lady Of Country Singing Twitty

One of the many classic Conway songs Jeff likes to sing is the sensual hit single “I’d Love to Lay You Down.” It was released in January 1980 as the lead single of Conway’s Heart and Soul album. The song quickly soared to number one and has sold over 300,000 digital downloads.

He Stayed True To Twitty

Bates’ rendition is reminiscent to the original but with an added burst of energy. His hearty Southern accent comes in full force the quick-paced melody setting a modern tone while still maintaining the overall classic feel of Conway’s original.

A Timeless Tune

The song has maintained relevance throughout the decades reaching number 43 on the country chart when covered by Daryle Singletary. You can watch Jeff Bates’ cover in the video below and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!
