Back in October, veteran actor Jeff Bridges revealed that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma.

His announcement on Twitter referenced his character from the movie The Big Lebowski, who is known simply as “The Dude.”

He wrote, “As the Dude would say.. New S**T has come to light. I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good.”

Bridges also revealed he would be starting treatment and would keep his fans updated on his recovery.

After his announcement, he thanked his fans for all the well wishes and prayers with a photo from the hospital.

One of our favorite movies Bridges has been in is the remake of True Grit, which was released in 2010. He played Rooster Cogburn, a role originated by John Wayne. Bridges earned an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Cogburn, while Wayne won one for his.

Bridges actually has seven Academy Award nominations for Best Actor. His lone win was for the movie Crazy Heart, where he plays a washed up country singer.

A lifelong musician, Bridges did all of his own singing in Crazy Heart. He released his debut album Be Here Soon in 2000. 11 years later he signed a recording contract with Blue Note Records/EMI Music Group and released his second album, a self-titled project, and appeared on Austin City Limits to support its release. Hear Jeff Bridges perform in the clip below.

As he promised, Bridges gave his fans an update on his health on social media this week. He gave a few updates actually. He was “feeling good,” got a puppy named Monty, turned 71, and shaved his head. Check out his post below.
