Yellowstone Fans Say “Goodbye” To Colby Following His Tragic Death
Jennifer Landon shared a short, but powerful reaction to the death of her Yellowstone character’s love interest on the show’s latest episode.
Landon has played the pink-haired and foul-mouthed ranch hand, Teeter, on Yellowstone since Season 3. Fans soon found themselves rooting for Teeter and longtime ranch hand Colby (played by Denim Richards) to become a couple.
The characters didn’t seem to get along at first, and often teased each other. But a romance started to blossom between them, and they eventually became a fan-favorite Yellowstone pairing.
On the December 1st episode of Yellowstone, “Counting Coup,” Colby told Teeter “I love you” for the first time. But those heartwarming feelings were short-lived, as tragedy struck later in the episode.
Colby was killed after being kicked by a horse while trying to save Carter (played by Finn Little). Teeter, who was not at the ranch at the time, was devastated to learn about his death.
“He is a cowboy, suffering is the job,” she said. “I just wish he would have suffered a little longer so I could say goodbye.”
Jennifer Landon Reacts To Colby’s Death On Yellowstone
When speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about Colby’s death, Denim Richards explained how it hit even harder when thinking about his bond with Teeter.
“…I don’t know if anyone thought in season three when Jen came onto the show that we would become this fan-favorite couple, if you will,” he said. “We were received so well by the fans. It just speaks to the artistry of Jen.”
He went on to say:
“But the ‘I love you’ was definitely a little more weighted, because I knew what my fate was. We are always walking this very intentional tightrope between the human and the artist where you finally get to say, ‘I love you,’ and finally feel like there’s a path, and then some type of tragic ending occurs, which could only happen in Shakespeare.”
Richards said he spoke to Jennifer Landon on the phone the day before his interview. “…and we pretty much said, you know, ‘I think we did our job.’ The fans responded and are very sad about it, but I think it just speaks to the atmosphere that was created and I’m happy to have had the opportunity to be a part of it.“
For her part, Landon reacted to Colby’s death by sharing her love for Richards on social media. She posted a photo of her and Richards on set with Ian Bohen (Ryan), and captioned it, “You are so loved.”
