Kacey Musgraves’ Family Played A Vital Role In Miranda Lambert’s Journey To Stardom

Miranda Lambert Got Her Big Break Thanks To Kacey Musgraves’ Grandma
Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert have not only shared the spotlight as chart-topping country artists, but the two have known each other for years! The Texas natives have an interesting origin story.
Musgraves’s grandmother, Mrs. Barbara, is widely known as the singer’s first booking agent and biggest cheerleader. When asked about her grandmother, Musgraves jokes that she was “slinging CDs back in the day.” The singer’s grandmother could not be more proud and shared a sweet moment with Musgraves on the CMA red carpet 5 years ago.

Mrs. Barbara And Miranda Lambert
Mrs. Barbara didn’t limit her recommendations to her granddaughter; she also suggested Lambert compete on Nashville Star, a reality singing competition similar to American Idol, which ran from 2003-2008. The two families lived only twenty minutes apart in Texas and were friends.
Lambert did not win Nashville Star, but the show gave her needed exposure and landed her a record deal. The “Somethin’ Bad” singer appeared on the reality show in 2003 and later released her album, Kerosene, in 2005.
The country star you now know and love might not be here today without Mrs. Barbara!

Where Are They Now?
Mrs. Barbara still supports her granddaughter’s career by offering her insight or, more often, disapproval.
The “Merry Go ‘Round” singer recently released Deeper Well, in which she is naked on the cover. The singer sat down on Late Night with Seth Meyers to discuss the album and her disastrous Ireland trip.
While discussing the choice to be naked on the cover of her recent album, she shared that her grandmother, whom she loves, “has a lot of opinions about everything I do, pretty much.” The singer goes on to share that when she showed her grandmother the cover art, she hilariously responded: “You’re a singer, not a stripper, Kacey.”

Lambert has taken full advantage of the fame she acquired through Nashville Star. With ten No. 1 hits and nine solo albums!
Lambert just released her newest album titled Postcards from Texas on September 13th, 2024. She is also currently touring, and you can see her tour dates on her website.
The two stars have never collaborated as singers; however, Miranda’s hit song “Mama’s Broken Heart” was written by Kacey Musgraves, Brandy Clark, and Shane McAnally.
