Lainey Wilson Earns More CMA Award Nominations Than Any Other Artist In 2023

CMA Award nominees were announced on Thursday (September 7), and Lainey Wilson leads the pack. She scored the highest number of nominations this year, with a total of nine.

Wilson is only the fourth artist in CMA history to earn nine or more nominations in one year. Both Merle Haggard and Miranda Lambert received nine nominations in the past (Haggard in 1970, Lambert in 2010 and 2014).

Alan Jackson holds the record for the most CMA nominations in a single year. He earned 10 nominations in 2002.

How Lainey’s CMA Nominations Resulted In Her Making History

Furthermore, Wilson made history with her CMA Award nominations this year. As Billboard reports, she “is the first artist in CMA history to top the nominations list in her first two appearances on the final ballot.”

Wilson was a first-time nominee at the 2022 CMA Awards. She scored six nominations that year, more than anyone else. She walked home with the trophies for New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year.

Holy moly y’all. Someone pinch me. I can’t believe my eyes…Being nominated in each of these categories amongst my friends means the world to me. And the coveted Entertainer Of The Year category?! It’s absolutely surreal. We bust our butts out there on the road every dang night to give y’all the best show possible and I have the time of my life doing it. All I gotta say is thank y’all.
