My heart is sad for Luke Perry’s family. I got to work on the movie 8 seconds where Luke played the role of Bull Rider, Lane Frost, and he did a superb job. I can’t believe he’s gone so young.

Now, in the wake of his passing, Lane’s mom Elsie Frost opened up to Tulsa World / WRAL about the loss of the man who had the role of a lifetime in portraying her son’s life throughout 8 Seconds.
Lane Frost, who was one of the most prominent athletes in professional bull riding and a ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductee, was killed at the age of 25 while competing in a bull riding event.
Just five years after Frost’s 1989 passing, 8 Seconds was released with Perry in the starring role and forever forged a bond with the bull riding community that has continued even through his own recent passing.
“He wasn’t someone that thought he was a movie star and couldn’t talk to people,” Elsie Frost explained to the publication. “He was very down to Earth. When we made the movie, he said he had never played anyone that was a real person before, and he was so conscientious of wanting to do it the way it should be done.”
During the making of 8 Seconds, Elsie revealed that she and her family became very close with Perry and they continued to exchange cards on special occasions for years to come.
“I still have his phone number,” Elsie added. “He had told me I could call any time, and I knew he meant it. He was truly a nice person, and we are just so saddened by his death. Our heart just goes out to his family. He has got two kids and a brother and a sister and his mother. My heart just breaks for her.”
“He was a great person.”
Truly, Perry meant a lot to the Frost family and through their shared experiences they were close and cared a great deal for one another.
It’s a sad time following the passing of this great actor and really wonderful person. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this time.
