Morgan Wallen Ends 2024 By Dropping A New Song, “Smile”
Morgan Wallen ended 2024 with the surprise release of a brand-new song, “Smile.”
As soon as December 31st hit, Wallen shared a post on social media with a simple caption: “ Smile…out now.“
Fans started freaking out in the comments, writing:
“I love it!! Thank you for this lovely gift before the New Year!!!”
“always a good day when I see you release a new song!”
“Omg I’m crying…perfect way to end 2024…this is the best surprise ever!!”
“YAYYYY HAPPY NEW YEAR.”
“Happy new year to us. Thank you Morgan.”

“Smile” is the latest in a string of new songs Wallen has released this year. He previously dropped “Love Somebody” and “Lies, Lies, Lies.”
Interestingly, “Smile” is not the new song Wallen teased on social media on December 23rd. That day, he shared a snippet of a “rough demo” of a song he had just recently written.
Now, with “Smile” thrown into the mix and this unreleased song on the back burner, fans can’t help but wonder if Wallen is gearing up to release a new album. His last album, One Thing at a Time, debuted on March 3, 2023.

As if releasing a new song wasn’t exciting enough, Wallen had another surprise up his sleeve. He also dropped a brand-new music video to accompany “Smile.”
Fittingly, the music video is set on New Year’s Eve. The clip opens with Wallen in a dressing room, and he glances over at a beautiful woman who’s in the room with him. There’s clearly some sadness and tension between them, but they don’t get the chance to speak before Wallen’s whisked away to perform on a late-night talk show.
While Wallen was supposed to sing “Love Somebody,” he goes off course, and sings the new song we now know as “Smile.” In it, Wallens sings about an overwhelming sense of loneliness he feels in his relationship. The woman he’s with seems unhappy and only smiles when posing with him for a picture in front of other people.
He sings:
“It was good to see you smile.
Girl you know it’s been a while.
It was good to see you smile.
Even if it was just for the picture.”
The music video matches the song’s melancholy tone. The woman who was with Wallen in his dressing room comes out to watch him sing. But, when Wallen returns to his dressing room after the performance, she’s nowhere to be seen. He rings in the New Year alone.
