CMT went all-woman for this year’s Artists of The Year lineup. The honorees included Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Hillary Scott, Miranda Lambert and the leading ladies of Little Big Town, Karen Fairchild, and Kimberly Schlapman. Being among this star-studded bunch, it was awesome to see that Miranda Lambert added to the sisterly love by having her two friends and bandmates join her on stage to premiere their new song, “Sugar Daddy.”

The Pistol Annies consider themselves very lucky. To come to Nashville from different backgrounds and find your musical match is very rare – but when it does happen, it’s magical. Which is exactly the case for Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe, and Angaleena Presley.

Miranda praised her collaborating queens during an interview with CMT saying, “Some of the female influences that first influenced me, I couldn’t just call them up… I would say [the first female artist to change my life is] Ashley because she and I became best friends right off the bat when we realized what each other were about, and we were just kindred spirits. She’s how I met Angaleena. So, this band is so important to me and for female music and perspective.”

The ladies came together through an idea Lambert and Monroe threw around during a late-night jam session. They both loved Presley’s sound and no-BS attitude and ended up auditioning for her. Obviously, the audition went well and now the ladies have created three albums together.

In 2011, Hell on Heels was their first album together and they were an instant hit with fans all around the US. Their realness in tracks like “Takin’ Pills” and “Trailer for Rent” set the stage for what would become one of the biggest female country groups of this generation.

Two years later, the ladies dropped Annie Up, a universally loved album that highlighted the daily struggles and heartbreak of women everywhere. The talented trio brought to life all the things normally left unsaid with songs like “Hush Hush” – a ballad based on keeping secrets to keep up appearances.

Now the gals are at it again and have slowly started leaking music to their Interstate Gospel album that is set to be released on November 2, 2018. The album cover and song list were all leaked before tonight’s CMT Artists of the Year event, but their performance had us even more excited for the full release.

Lambert was joined by Monroe and a pregnant Presley onstage and they looked gorgeous. Monroe and Presley stunned in emerald green dresses while Lambert a sequined, striped jumpsuit. While their outfits could have easily stolen the show, the second they started singing the crowd went crazy. They were definitely in for a treat getting to hear the ladies’ new song, “Sugar Daddy,” live before anyone else.

This was a performance made for CMT history. Check out the full video below and let us know what you think in the comments!
