Rascal Flatts Reunite For First Performance In Years

After being on hiatus for years, Rascal Flatts reunited to sing at one of the inaugural balls honoring President Donald Trump.

In January 2020, Rascal Flatts announced their plans to embark on a Farewell Tour later that year. Unfortunately, the tour was canceled before it even started due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Member Jay DeMarcus said in one interview it felt like their chance to say “goodbye” to their fans was “stripped away” from them.

Rascal Flatts didn’t want to end things that way. After their multi-year hiatus, the group announced they’re reuniting for a new tour in 2025.

But before their Life Is A Highway Tour kicks off on February 13, Rascal Flatts reunited for a special performance at one of Donald Trump’s inaugural balls.

Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox, Jay De Marcus, and Joe Don Rooney were three of many country artists who performed at Trump’s inauguration festivities. Singers such as Billy Ray Cyrus, Kid Rock, Lee Greenwood, Jason Aldean, and Parker McCollum performed at various events and balls connected to his inauguration.

Carrie Underwood drew the most attention for her performance of “America the Beautiful” during Trump’s swearing-in ceremony. When technical issues kept the recorded musical track from working, Underwood opted to sing a cappella, and encouraged the whole crowd to sing along.

For their part, Rascal Flatts performed during Trump’s Commander-in-Chief Ball. Lead singer Gary LeVox later shared a video from their performance, which showcases them singing one of their biggest hits, “Bless the Broken Road.”

“Bless the Broken Road” was first recorded by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in the ’90s. Rascal Flatts released their recording in 2004. It reached the #1 spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.

LeVox shared a passionate caption next to the video of the group singing “Bless the Broken Road” at the Commander-in-Chief Ball. He started with, “God blessed the broken road that led @realdonaldtrump back to us! USA.

LeVox continued:

“What an absolute honor gettin to sing for America & the next POTUS last night with my @rascalflatts brothas. Definitely one for the books. May God bless President Trump & America in every aspect for the next 4 years.”
