on May 02, 2023
Kevin Costner’s wife, Christine Baumgartner, has filed for divorce, putting an end to their 18-year marriage.
According to TMZ, Christine filed the paperwork Monday citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce.
A rep for Costner issued a statement saying, “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.” He added, “We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”
TMZ claims that both Christine and Kevin are seeking joint custody of their children, ages 12, 14 and 15.
Kevin Costner met Christine Baumgartner while still married to his first wife, Cindy Silva. Their paths first crossed while Costner was playing golf while rehearsing for his 1996 film Tin Cup. They met again at a restaurant in 1998 following his divorce from Silva. He began dating Baumgartner shortly after.

“We exchanged numbers, and I told her that I would — did she mind if I called her in two weeks. I did not realize that was like an insult to a woman,” Costner told PEOPLE in 2003.
