CMT Music Award For Video Of The Year Goes To…

On March 16th, nominations for the CMT Music Awards were announced. The awards are as follows: Video of the Year, Female Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year, Group/Duo Video of the Year, Breakthrough Video of the Year, Collaborative Video of the Year, CMT Performance of the Year, as well as two new categories:  CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year and Trending Comeback Song of the Year.

The CMT Music Awards are unlike any other country awards show because these awards are all fan voted. The second nominations were announced, fans could vote every single day for their favorite artists and songs. For Video of the Year, 12 songs were nominated. Fans were able to vote up until April 4th when the top nominees were announced.

Below are the original 12 nominees for Video of the Year.

Brandi Carlile – “Right On Time”
Cody Johnson – “‘Til You Can’t”
Cole Swindell & Lainey Wilson – “Never Say Never”
Jason Aldean & Carrie Underwood – “If I Didn’t Love You”
Kacey Musgraves – “justified”
Kane Brown – “One Mississippi”
Kelsea Ballerini feat. Kenny Chesney – “half of my hometown”
Luke Combs – “Forever After All”
Maren Morris – “Circles Around This Town”
Mickey Guyton – “Remember Her Name”
Miranda Lambert – “If I Was A Cowboy”
Taylor Swift feat. Chris Stapleton – “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)”

On April 4th, CMT announced the top nominees are:

Cody Johnson – “‘Til You Can’t”
Cole Swindell & Lainey Wilson – “Never Say Never”
Jason Aldean & Carrie Underwood – “If I Didn’t Love You”
Kane Brown – “One Mississippi”
Kelsea Ballerini feat. Kenny Chesney – “half of my hometown”
Luke Combs – “Forever After All”

The nominees were narrowed down one final time the day of the awards, to:

Cody Johnson – “‘Til You Can’t”
Jason Aldean & Carrie Underwood – “If I Didn’t Love You”
Kane Brown – “One Mississippi”

1883 stars Faith Hill and Isabel May were tasked with handing out the night’s biggest award, which went to Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood’s video for “If I Didn’t Love You.”

Aldean and Underwood released their music video for  “If I Didn’t Love You” on July 23, 2021. It has over 17 million views! Check it out below.
