Confirmed: Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton Will Have His Own “Yellowstone” Spinoff
on May 08, 2025

Kayce Dutton Will Be The Focus Of A New Spinoff In The Yellowstone Universe
The reports have been confirmed: Luke Grimes‘ Kayce Dutton will be at the center of a new Yellowstone spinoff series.
Yellowstone ended in December 2024 after running for five seasons. Rumors of potential spinoffs and sequels started swirling, including one series following Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.
Then, in March, reports surfaced that Kayce Dutton would be the subject of another Yellowstone series. However, instead of airing on Paramount Network (the home of Yellowstone), it was reported that the new Kayce-centered series would be on CBS.
This didn’t seem like an illogical jump. After all, CBS and the Paramount Network are both under the Paramount Global umbrella, so they are related.

Luke Grimes remained tight-lipped about the reports and didn’t address them. Until recently…
On Wednesday (May 7), Deadline confirmed that CBS ordered a Kayce Dutton spinoff series titled Y: Marshals. Grimes shared Deadline‘s article on social media, along with the caption:
“Cowboys don’t say goodbye, they say see you later.”
What We Know So Far About The New Yellowstone Sequel Series, Y: Marshals
According to Deadline, Y: Marshals is currently the working title of the Kayce Dutton spinoff series, meaning it’s subject to change. The series will follow Kayce as he joins a super elite group of U.S. Marshals.
Deadline cites the series’ official logline, which says Kayce will be seen:
“…combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”
Deadline reports that Y: Marshals will air on CBS on Sundays at 9 PM. An exact premiere date has not been announced.
For those concerned about a dip in quality with the series being on CBS instead of the Paramount Network, CBS President Amy Reisenbach shared some reassuring words. She said, “We don’t do cheap.”
