Sisters Mia and Jacy Matthews are the latest singers to join American Idol after competing on The Voice.

We met Mia and Jacy as part of the trio Worth The Wait when they auditioned for The Voice in 2020. The trio consisted of them and their mom Tara. They had all the coaches fighting over them during the Blind Audition.

Worth The Wait made it to the Live Playoffs on Team Blake before being eliminated by the public vote. For reference, Team Gwen’s Carter Rubin won the season they competed on.

After The Voice, the trio has continued to perform together and in recent social media posts, they have assured their fans that they are still a trio. They even made their Grand Ole Opry debut in 2023 together!

During Sunday night’s (March 24) episode of American Idol, all three members of Worth The Wait were in attendance, but Tara was just there as support as her daughters auditioned for the show, separately.

Idol is notoriously a show where you perform solo, so the sisters had to make the difficult decision to audition separately.

17-year-old Jacy went first and sang the Kris Kristofferson classic “Help Me Make It Through The Night.” Her 18-year-old sister Mia sang Sara Evans‘ “No Place That Far” as her audition song.

When it came time to judge them, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie were split. Bryan thought they were “quiet and timid”

While judging Jacy, Luke said no, but Katy and Lionel said yes. Mia got a yes from Luke and Katy, but got a no from Lionel. Therefore, they were both through to Hollywood Week!
