Post Malone, born Austin Richard Post, is full of surprises. Even though his previous musical works have been heavily focused in rap and hip-hop, he has frequently expressed his affinity and admiration for country music. He has even released cover videos of some famous country tunes. During a recent Twitch livestream, the rapper was asked repeatedly about his new endeavor into the genre. Between rounds of the video game he was playing he confirmed:

“Country record is coming… I keep singing a song that we made while I was in Nashville, and it’s so f–ing sick, but it’s not out.”

Post Malone also revealed that he is currently working on two albums, but did not give any additional detail or share if one or both of the projects are country-related. However, we do know that the rapper will be a part of Hardy’s upcoming Hixtape Vol. 3: Difftape, which is arriving in March 2024.

Post Malone performed “Pickup Man” at the CMA Awards alongside Morgan Wallen and HARDY.

Post Malone joined forces with Morgan Wallen and HARDY to honor Joe Diffie at the 2023 CMA Awards with a special (and mostly unexpected) tribute performance. The trio sang “John Deere Green” and “Pickup Man,” and the collaboration quickly became a fan-favorite performance of the night.

Just days before the CMA performance, photos of Post Malone in the studio with the likes of Morgan Wallen, Ernest, and Brad Paisley began circulating on social media. These photos got fans buzzing and hopes for a Post Malone country album rose.

“Pickup Man” became Post Malone’s first charting song at Country Radio

In November, it was announced that Post Malone’s rendition of “Pickup Man” would be released as a single to country radio, and very quickly after, it officially debuted on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. As of press time (Dec 1), the single is occupying the 34th spot on the chart. This accomplishment marks Post Malone’s first-ever charting song on Country Radio.

Further information on any additional country songs or an album release date from Post Malone has not yet been made available. Check back for updates!
