Dolly Parton Was Married To Her Husband Carl Dean For Nearly 60 Years
Although Dolly Parton and her husband, Carl Dean, had been together for over half a century, Dean was always mysterious. In a 2015 interview with Parade, Parton said Dean’s desire to stay out of the spotlight didn’t make her love him any less:
“I married a really good man, a guy that’s completely different from me,” Dolly gushed. “He loves to hear about the things I do. I love to hear about the things he does. So we enjoy each other’s company.”
Parton didn’t hesitate to say that she found a lot of happiness in spending time with her husband:
“I’m also very happy when I’m home with him and we do our little things together,” Parton said. “We have a little RV, we travel around…sight-see all of Tennessee and Kentucky, the areas that we can get back home from at night.”

Dolly Explained What She Loved About Her Husband & Why They Made A Great Pair
The interviewer wanted to know how Parton remained with Dean when she met so many glamorous men throughout her career. Dolly said the answer is simple:
“He understands me, he gets me. He’s very secure within himself. He’s never been jealous. It’s a great compliment to me. This is his statement: ‘Well, hell, I know it’s not easy out there. I’d feel less about any man that didn’t fall in love with you.’ So that’s his attitude. Because of that, I realize I’d never find that again in anybody. He loves me and I love him.”

Even though not much is known about Dean, one thing is certain: he made Parton happy:
“We get along good,” Parton said. “He’s got a great sense of humor. We’ve just been best buddies and best friends and, evidently, it’s working!“
We agree with Parton—it definitely worked! She and Dean were married for nearly 60 years before he passed away on March 3, 2025.
