The Voice moved on from Blind Auditions to the Battle Rounds in Monday’s (March 18) episode.

The Battle Rounds are the second round of competition on The Voice.

After all four coaches fill their team in the Blind Auditions, the show moves into the Battle Round format. The coaches have to team two of their singers up for a duet, and eventually choose a winner to move on to the next round.

In our opinion, it’s the hardest round because the singers are trying to not only sound good together, but try to stand out and beat their fellow teammate! It’s also the first time they are working with their celebrity coaches.

On Monday night, Team Dan + Shay’s Karen Waldrup and Ryan Argast performed “Save Me The Trouble,” a song the duo wrote with Ashley Gorley, Jordan Reynolds, and Jordan Minton.

Ryan started off the song with his signature raspy voice and Karen joined in with her powerful tone that had all the coaches impressed. They traded off singing solo and when they sang together, their harmonies were pitch perfect! They ended the song in a very steamy way, getting extremely close, which even surprised the coaches!

What did the coaches think of their Battle Round?

John Legend, Reba McEntire, and Chance the Rapper all gave their critiques and opinions of who would win this battle if it was their team.

“Karen, oh man. I’m mad I didn’t turn for you. It was like, ‘What was I smoking when [you auditioned]?’” John said.  “I loved your tone, the vibrato it’s kinda like a quick vibrato, but it’s really nice. If I were to choose, I would say Karen!”

Reba was quick to point out, “Well, Karen, I did turn around for you, and a couple of little boys over there blocked me!”

She continued, “I think you’re fantastic. I love the way you move on stage, you look fabulous. You guys are a great duet.”

Chance said, “Karen, you have this true talent. There was a storm around you and you were just shining through it. It made me wonder how I didn’t turn for you.”

John chimed in, saying they must have been smoking the same thing!

Now, it was Dan + Shay’s turn to critique their own singers.

“It’s a guy’s song so you rose to occasion and made it your own,” the duo told Karen. “Karen, your voice is so fantastic. It reminds me of old country stuff that I grew up listening to.”

But they could only choose one singer to advance. And that person was Karen!
